Caitlin en Demi op bezoek bij de Huawei-fabriek in China

Als innovatieve organisatie vinden we het belangrijk om actief deel te nemen aan technologische vooruitgang – ook op internationaal niveau. Dankzij onze samenwerking met Lumiad kregen Caitlin (AI Developer) en Demi (Zorgcoach) de unieke kans om deel te nemen aan een innovatiereis georganiseerd door Huawei in China en Hong Kong (Dongguan en Shenzhen). Tijdens deze reis bezochten zij onder andere de hypermoderne Huawei-fabriek, maakten ze kennis met nieuwe technologische ontwikkelingen en wisselden ze kennis uit met internationale partners. Hieronder vertellen ze wat ze allemaal hebben beleefd:

Caitlin: "Sometimes, it feels like a fever trip. The trip was only 5 days but there was so much that happened on the trip. It was a non-stop packed schedule where we saw so much and learned so much. I look back fondly and am very grateful that I got to go on the once in a lifetime work trip. I am not sure if any other work trip would top this one. I think the factory trip was quite interesting. We were not allowed to bring any phones but to watch how technologically advanced Huawei was in terms of production lines really amazed me. Everything was done almost completely autonomously which is a very different image from what is usually portrayed in Chinese factories. Other than that, the conversation with the director of the healthcare division in Huawei was very interesting and insightful. There were innovative things that they were planning for in the healthcare sector which I thought could also be applied at Avics. It was also nice to be able to share what we do at Avics with them. Personally, this trip sometimes felt like a gastronomical trip. All the food that we had was really top-notch and we had an amazing variety of all sorts of food ranging from Argentinian food to Japanese food to Chinese food. I also tried new things that I would have never tried on my own and found a liking for new types of food like sea urchin and abalone."

Demi: "Onze dagen zaten bomvol met inspirerende afspraken en activiteiten. Een absoluut hoogtepunt was ons bezoek aan de indrukwekkende Huawei-campus, volledig gebouwd in Europese stijl – alsof je aan het citytrippen door Europa was (zie foto!). Naast alle zakelijke indrukken werden we ook flink in de watten gelegd: uitgebreide zes gangen diners met culinaire hoogstandjes, waarbij we het gevoel hadden bijna elke vis uit de zee geproefd te hebben. Voor de BBQ-liefhebbers stond er zelfs heerlijke Wagyu beef M5 op het menu! Alles was tot in de puntjes geregeld, inclusief vervoer."

Caitlin: "We had a tea foaming competition during the tea culture experience. We did a simplified version of it, which was only 3 steps instead of the usual 7 steps, thinking that it would not be easy. What we did not know was that this involved us whisking with our tea for 20 minutes straight. I think I got a muscle ache the next day from there. Demi did the best though!"

Demi: "Een van de meest memorabele ontmoetingen was met onze gids in Hong Kong: Amy, door ons liefkozend ‘Tante Ans’ genoemd. Met haar scherpe humor en ongezouten mening over het Chinese regime wist zij ons zowel te amuseren als te verrassen. Eén ding stond vast: regels overtreden?... Dan sta je er alleen voor!"

Kortom: ontzettend veel beleefd en nog meer geleerd. We zijn dankbaar voor samenwerkingen zoals deze – ze brengen ons op nieuwe plekken, in contact met inspirerende mensen en leveren waardevolle inzichten op. Dank aan Lumiad en Huawei voor deze indrukwekkende reis!
